Medford nursing program serving as model in Egypt

Medford, MA  Sept. 24, 2009

The face of nursing is about to change in Egypt — and it’s all thanks to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital/Regis College Nursing Program.

The school was picked from hundreds of nursing programs throughout the country by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development in Egypt to partner over the next five years to establish the Gouna Nursing Institute, a two-year nursing program in Egypt that will replicate the Medford-based school’s curriculum.

Lawrence Memorial Hospital /Regis College Nursing Program awarded simulation technology grant

MELROSE, MA – Feb. 13, 2009- Hallmark Health System announces the Lawrence Memorial Hospital/Regis College Nursing Program has been awarded a simulation technology grant by the state Department of Higher Education.

The grant award will provide the nursing program with a Laerdal SimBaby Patient Simulator. SimBaby, a mannequin that’s the actual size of a baby, has realistic anatomy and interactive physiological responses including a heartbeat and respiratory sounds. SimBaby cries, has a pulse, blood pressure and many other features that allow for a very real pediatric experience in a laboratory setting, which is an effective way to prepare confident and competent nurses.
